#Bansko Winter 2016/17 December 21 2016, 0 Comments

So the season opening event went off again with the usual pomp and ceremony however, this year a good level of snow was evident as well to put smiles on many a face in resort;)

Another good point is temperatures are low so snow cannons and piste preparations are firing on all cylinders and by next weekend the resort will be busy with tourists via tour operators and more. The resort still has a little rushed feel about it as businesses are still setting up but that is the BG way i suppose....

On the social front, which is where i know you want to reside, the place has a great feel for the coming season. The Happy End are finally getting their act together and Jager house over at La Passage should also prove to be an apres hit. together with Sunnys 87 Burger bar.

I am happy to say the town does seem to move up just a little in terms of service offering each year which means we are all moving in the right direction.

Le Retro are now open from 8am to 8pm throughout the season and are continuing to provide a great selection at a price that does not compromise the quality.

The Irish Harp have kept their game face on for this winter and still hold the only "Gastro Pub" in the village title! Duck, Quail and caviar are again on the menu plus Magners and Hobgoblin are on tap, yes tap! Finally new for this winter Irish Breakfast ! YES THEY ARE OPEN ALL DAY :)

Finally the "food and wine" restaurant at White Lavina complex is firing on all cylinders with popular manager Svetlana looking after your every need. Great looking menu, keenly priced and they've a great variable lunch menu on offer

So that's enough for now, please remember to get in touch with us for support on services in town and advanced payment/reservation through our online store (just hit the products button) for great discounts on equipment, lift passes, apartment services & transfers for both private and shared options.

See you soon

1st Day on the slopes January 05 2015, 0 Comments

Well, I finally managed to get a day on the mountain today! Blinking cold but good fun none the less.......

Collected my day pass at 08:30 and walked straight on to the Gondola although i heard that later on it was quite busy. Headed straight to the top as we all do ;) and once i managed to defrost my nasal hair I was off on my new plank and in all honesty she rides beautifully....... OK, OK i know you want to know about the piste and not my lovely new board!

Plato was icy early on but softened up later, the old strip where the old drag lift ran was great and had about 6cm of soft stuff on top, Blue 5 again rode very well for most of the day as was the run down to the Mostra lift (known also as the secret chair). Only issues of the day were Blue 10 which had not been pisted and had a couple of rocks showing with moguls from yesterday and the last part of Red 4 running into Shilligarnika which was closed :(

The afternoon showed how tight the run back to the Gondola station can be with many learners (yes some were in Jeans as well) not really prepared or capable of handling themselves causing issues for others!

So all in all a good day with great weather and majority of pistes riding OK but, we will be in need of some more snow soon as cannons can only do so much and those bear/icy patches are slowly starting to creep through.

More soon.............
